Our privacy policy has been updated to clarify that we may send data to third parties as necessary to deal with sites that are being used for spamming or the distribution of mailware.

An example of doing this is that we may provide the IP addresses of spammers to the owners of the sites they spam, or of other sites.

Another example is that sites can be configured by their owners to use the blogspam.net spam filtering service to catch eg, spam in comments. Blogspam works by examining the comment for spammy content, and checking if the commenter's IP address is in a blacklist.
